The Heritage Survival's heavily experienced line up of established Zimbabwean musicians collaborate in an ever remaining fresh fashion renewing familiar traditional rhythms with an innovative direction and energy. Hailing mainly from the country’s capital Harare, they blend popular Chimurenga and Sungura music in a new age.
The Heritage Survival have between them individually performed with all of the biggest names in Zimbabwean music from Oliver Mtukudzi to Chiwoniso, Alick Macheso, Mbuya Stella Chiweshe and many many more. Lead singer and guitarist Zivai Guveya's talent was first discovered aged just 15 when he began working with Thomas Mapfumo as a multi-skilled musician playing guitar, marimba and mbira. The early part of his career with Thomas Mapfumo saw him record 5 albums and tour throughout Africa, Europe, North America and Japan. Now focused with his own band and compositions, his line-up boasts mbira thumb piano master Norman Jekanyika Muza, national dance troupe member and Oliver Mtukudzi's former backing singer Cecilia Ndhlovu, Edd Bateman from England who's toured with professional Zimbabwean dance bands since the age of 14 and one of Zimbabwe's most highly in demand drummers Paul Kuzinya.
