Veronica Thompson & Nathan Evans: Flights Of Fancy & Foreign Affairs

3rd April 2019

FLIGHTS OF FANCY

created and performed by Fancy Chance
directed by Nathan Evans

Fancy Chance invites you aboard a globe-trotting, time-travelling mini-spectacle, jetting from her humble origins as Korean refugee to darling of the London cabaret scene.

Fusing cabaret, live art and video, the show is by turns funny, moving and thought-provoking; touching on themes of identity, immigration and international relations, it relates a very personal story relating very directly to our times.

‘a performer always ready to take risks’ The Guardian

Flights of Fancy was supported using public funding by Arts Council England. It has touched down at Soho Theatre, Rich Mix and Latitude Festival.

Fancy’s work incorporates burlesque, drag and circus. In 2009 she was crowned Alternative Miss World and in 2010 London's Top Tranny. She was shortlisted for Best Alternative Performer in London Cabaret Awards 2013 and has recently been collaborating on Carnesky’s Incredible Bleeding Woman.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS

created and performed by Nathan Evans

Britain is bowing out of Europe. Nathan’s British-born, Brittany-residing, Brexit-supporting Dad has closed the curtain on his marriage. Well, sort of. A pair of botched departures from forty-year unions. A metaphor waiting to happen…

Through spoken word, storytelling, music and film, the show negotiates the humorous and heartfelt, the poetical and political in an attempt to come to terms with the social and generational divisions we are left with upon leaving.

‘witty, engaging and inquisitive’ Exeunt

Foreign Affairs premiered in the Voila European Theatre Festival 2018.

Nathan’s work in film and theatre has been broadcast by Channel 4, funded by the Arts Council, toured by the British Council, archived by the British Film Institute, won awards at London Short Film Festival and been performed at venues including Royal Court, Royal Festival Hall and Royal Vauxhall Tavern.
