I Hear Voices Theatre Co: Poets Day

I Hear Voices Theatre Company presents… “POETS DAY”

Written and Performed by Damien Bell & Darren Gooding
Sound Recording by Stuart Armitage

Don Fletcher Park and Mervin Mule are back!

Forty years after exploding onto the spoken word scene two once radical and now increasingly frazzled punk poets, Donny and Mervin, struggle against the prospect of slowly disintegrating in genteel oblivion; adrift in the picturesque East Anglian coastal village of Wivenhoe.

"Poets Day" inhabits a strangely familiar landscape; brimming with fading artists, assorted eccentrics and bus-pass bohemians.

I Hear Voices Theatre Company presents two brand new half hour adventures in this popular absurd radio series; which has so far exceeded all expectations and not become the subject of legal proceedings... Recorded before your very ears at the Company's spiritual home of Colchester Arts Centre.

"Self Published" by Darren Gooding - The owner of Mrs McSweeney’s Independent, New and Antiquarian Bibliographic Emporium is unexpectedly taken ill; resulting in Mervin and Donny selflessly electing to take over the running of her establishment, for money. Unfortunately, things do not go well when a much sort after literary volume becomes the subject of one of Donny’s pioneering chemical experiments...

"Plague for Today" by Damien Bell - Mervin is worried, Donny is not himself and our heroes are forced to confront a mystery virus stalking the placid streets of Wivenhoe. Can they find a cure, will a benefit gig be the answer and what, if anything, does this all have to do with exotic frogs?

WARNING: ANY SIMILARITY BETWEEN POETS, ESSEX OR PUNK, IS ENTIRELY COINCIDENTAL.
