The annual commission this year comes from Ed Puddick.

A highly regarded composer, Ed also lectures in jazz arranging at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. His music has been performed at concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall and Bridgewater Hall.

This new piece for the Joe Allard Commission is written for string quartet, piano and double bass. It consists of several movements, and encompasses jazz and classical elements. It will be premiered by some of the finest musicians in the country; pianist John Turville, Dave Whitford on bass, and string quartet led by violinist Kate Robinson.
