Join us for an evening to celebrate the best of filmmaking locally and around the world with the Underdog Crew Awards and Essex DocFest Double Bill.
Featuring a number of films produced by young local people, who have captured the real-life struggles they have experienced during their lives, it promises to be educational and thought-provoking.
The Underdog Crew, in association with Anglian Community Trust, will award the winner of the best short film a prize of £300 on the night.

The Underdog Crew will also showcase the Premiere of The Slip, which is a new teen TV series filmed in Colchester that further reflects some of the major issues young people have to face in modern society. Told through the perspective of a young carer, it will feature a number of high-profile actors, such as Paul Danan from Hollyoaks.
As well as being hard-hitting, this new TV series promises to be entertaining too.
You can also find out how you can get involved in the Underdog Crew too, which transforms and improves the lives of young people locally from all backgrounds by helping them to break into the film industry.
This event runs from 5pm – 7pm and will be followed between 7.30pm and 10pm by the return of the Essex DocFest.
This is an international documentary film festival which raises awareness about important stories happening in marginalised communities around the world, which you might not have heard of before.
Featuring films in a diverse range of categories, such as: Women Filmmakers, Ethnographic Filmmakers, Disabled Filmmakers, and Emerging Filmmakers, this event provides a platform for unheard voices in the film industry and showcases unique and important films that audiences would struggle to see elsewhere.
Started in March 2020, it now attracts filmmakers from all corners of the world.
