28th October 2011

RESCHEDULED FROM 24th MARCH 2011

A great UK double-bill for a Friday night of comedy fun!

Gareth Richards’ engaging observational comedy and inspired one-liners have made him in an instant favourite on the comedy circuit. He can be heard every Saturday morning from 8am on Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio Show. In 2008 he was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Award, and later won a place as part of the Comedy Reserve, the Edinburgh Festival showcase run by the Pleasance. Previously he was a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2007 competition, and a runner-up in both the final of You Must Be Joking (Newbury Comedy Festival), and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off, held at the Edinburgh festival. Gareth has previously appeared in the Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival - the fringe’s longest-running and most prestigious stand-up showcase and will be taking his debut stand-up show to this year’s festival.

Nat Luurtsema was a 2008 Chortle Best Newcomer Nominee after just eight months doing stand-up. She reached the finals of ‘Funny Women’ and the Laughing Horse’s ‘New Act of the Year’ competition, and appeared as part of the Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival - the Fringe’s longest running and most prestigious showcase. Nat is also an award-winning presenter, interviewing performers on Festival FM in Edinburgh for two years, on the Glastonbury Festival’s radio station for three years, and online for Tiscali’s video coverage of the Edinburgh Fringe. Broadcast voted her one of their ‘Hotshot Writers’, while the London Paper featured her as one of the ‘Top 30 under 30’ talents to watch. More recently Nat wrote and starred in ‘Girl Friday’, a Comedy Showcase for Channel 4 made by Objective Productions. She also has a sketch-show script in development with Eyeworks. Nat took her debut stand-up show, ‘In My Head I’m A Hero’, to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2010.
