25/10/2018 We are thrilled to be able to share the exciting news that Colchester Arts Centre has been awarded £499,000 funding from the Arts Council for a bold capital project that will transform the venue’s accessibility for deaf and disabled artists and audiences, as well as improving energy efficiency and technical infrastructure.

The two and half year project will see a new hearing loop throughout the building, accessible showers and toilets, improved handrails and ramps, and better access to the bar. As well as installing vital accessibility upgrades, the project will also upgrade the buildings technical and environmental infrastructure which should help to reduce energy consumption and the building’s carbon footprint.

There will also be new adaptable seating, an improved sound system and other upgrades to improve the overall customer experience.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Colchester Borough Council who supported us throughout the funding proposal, and for whose ongoing support and assistance we are extremely grateful.

Thank you Arts Council England for believing in our vision to create a fully accessible venue for all. Watch this space for updates....
