The hugely popular Master Drummer from Senegal, MODOU DIOUF, will play with his band “JAPPO” to create loud, exciting rhythms and cross rhythms, guaranteed to get you dancing!
Modou Diouf was born into a long lineage of Griot Musicians of Northern Senegal. Now widely found in The Gambia, this music was once reserved for Senegalese Royalty. Today a Sabar ensemble can be heard at many social occasions, such as weddings, naming ceremonies, other rites of passage and even wrestling matches (one of the most popular sports in Senegal).
SEFO KANUTEH
In contrast to the Sabar rhythms, the enchanting, calming melodies of the Kora and Balafon are mesmerising.
Sefo is a highly accomplished and gifted musician and composer. He will play the KORA (21 string African Harp) and the BALAFON (wooden Guinean Xylophone). Sefo plays flawlessly and beautifully, delighting his audiences.
