Greg Wohead: Celebration, Florida + Lucy Hutson: Bi-Curious George and Other Side Kicks

DOUBLE BILL

Greg Wohead:
Celebration, Florida.

Veering between reality and simulation, Celebration, Florida orbits around ideas of surrogacy; a stand-in to replace a person you miss, a re-creation of an experience you can’t stop thinking about, nostalgia for a place that never existed.

This is a show for anyone who has ever missed anyone or anything.

Greg will speak to you through two performers using pre-recorded audio and headphones. The performers will know almost nothing about the show before they walk on stage.

Commissioned by The Albany and developed at The Yard.

Greg Wohead is a writer, performer and live artist originally from Texas. He makes theatre performances, one-to-one pieces and audio work. He has shown and developed new work in the UK at Battersea Arts Centre, Bristol Old Vic, Ovalhouse, Mayfest and Northern Stage, and internationally at MC (Amsterdam), Orchard Project (New York), MAKE (Ireland), Bios (Athens), LAX Festival (Los Angeles), Fusebox Festival (Austin) and ArtPower (San Diego). He’s an Associate Artist at The Yard and Shoreditch Town Hall in London.

Lucy Hutson:
Bi-Curious George and Other Side Kicks

A collaboration between Live Artist Lucy Hutson and her “Dad” Prof the Amazing Addrian Punch and Judy man extraordinaire

Throughout her childhood Lucy worked with her father. as a bottler, (money collector), for Punch and Judy in the park, performing magic tricks in his shows, ducking and diving, busking balloon animals and most recently played Curious George the monkey on board a ferry between England and Holland.

They have reminisced through rose tinted spectacles and rebonded over cute childhood memories,Lucy has screamed at her dad like a teenager and as Addrian is uncompromisingly reasonable / a belligerent wind up merchant. Addrian has found solace in a cup of tea as Lucy bullies him / is forced to put her foot down

This show is a fusion of styles the glib entertainer and the earnest artist. Addrian and Lucy play it for laughs with impassioned sincerity.

The only questions are, where do these two artists go from here? What new avenues can they explore together when they cannot even agree on the publicity blurb? And can this show survive the appearance of Mr. Punch?
