". . . combining a passion for the classic jazz funk of the 70s with the ultra-modern . . . Revolutions is fantastic, setting a high standard for current UK jazz," wrote Jazz Journal when reviewing Resolution 88's latest release.

Resolution 88 was formed in 2012 as a funk jazz project by keyboard player/MD and Incognito alumnus Tom O’Grady, who was originally inspired firstly by Don Blackman, then Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters. Other influences include George Duke, Chick Corea, Jeff Lorber, Deodato, Lonnie Liston Smith, Crusaders and, more recently, ground-breaking artists such as Kaidi Tatham.

In 2013, Resolution 88 supported Snarky Puppy at the London Jazz Festival. Since then they have supported many famous artists, including Roy Ayers (twice), Marcus Miller, Christian McBride and Patrice Rushen, Larry Mizell and the Blackbyrds, Jeff Lorber and the Yellowjackets. In 2018, Tom and the band performed the classic Headhunters album live for their début at the famous New Morning club in Paris.

Already established as one of the UK’s leading exponents of funk jazz, the group's music is synonymous with the silky, buttery sound of the Fender Rhodes, harking back to the good old days of the 70s, when the genre was riding high. However, the group have now taken the music to another level.

Resolution 88 have released three critically acclaimed albums: 2014's Resolution 88, Afterglow (2016), and 2020's Revolutions. While Afterglow amply demonstrated the group's unrivalled skill when walking the tightrope of two genres, Revolutions sees the quartet raising the stakes - and then some!

Tom O’Grady (Suitcase Rhodes, Clavinet, Nord Stage 2, Solina, Moogs), Alex Hitchcock (Tenor Sax), Tiago Coimbra (Bass), Ric Elsworth (Drums), Oli Blake (Percussion).

"Resolution 88 have gone with the . . . influence of mid-70s Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters, and do it in the most heavyweight, sincere and unique way." - Blues & Soul

"Far from resting on their laurels, the end-result is arguably even more dynamic, boasting an even more encompassing sound than its predecessor." - Jazz Journal

"Wow. Soulful music, played with passion and incredible skill. This harkens to the best funk-jazz of the 60s and 70s, and takes it to a new level."  - Bob Power (The Roots, Erykah Badu, D'Angelo)

"The album has an easy charm from beginning to end; it’s full of funky, upbeat grooves and rich, exuberant melodies." - UK Vibe
