KRISTIAN BORRING QUARTET

Danish jazz guitarist and composer Kristian Borring formed his quartet in 2009, and ever since they've been turning heads and stunning audiences with their tight-knit playing, strong control and emphatic expression.

Captivating listeners with hard swing to no-nonsense grooves, contemplative melodies to intricate musical interplay, Kristian has also been praised for his sense of tasteful melody and colourful harmony, delivered in a cool playground of rhythm.

A musician who not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip-swinging, soul-bop, Kristian also draws from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny. And while unfailingly melodic, this is also highly sophisticated music that is well served by the Dane's undemonstrative approach.

With four critically acclaimed albums as band leader to his name, Kristian’s music is lyrical yet emphatic, while the playing is very engaging, providing the listener with exciting twists and turns.

An in-demand guitarist and improviser on the UK scene, Kristian’s duo album with pianist Bruno Heinen, ‘Postcards To Bill Evans’, drew stellar reviews when it was released.

Aside from leading his own group, Kristian has also performed with artists such as American sax legend Archie Shepp, Laurence Cottle, Gareth Lockrane, Bryan Abrahams, Christine Tobin, Michael Garrick, Jim Hart, Ivo Neame and Jasper Høiby.

Accompanied by the rock-solid rhythm section of Rick Simpson (Piano), Dave Whitford (Double Bass) and Jon Scott (Drums), this is one classy quartet well worth a listen.
