“On course to be the finest UK female blues/soul voice,” wrote the Daily Mirror’s Gavin Martin, when reviewing one of Jo Harman’s concerts.

Widely regarded by critics and fans alike as one of Europe's finest ever vocalists, Jo remains a genre-defying, independently minded artist of rare credibility, and one who makes sincere, soulful and heartfelt music, combining rock, blues, soul, funk, jazz and gospel. More importantly, like any truly great singer, she's tells it like it is - straight from the heart.

Citing artists such as Lauren Hill, Jill Scott, Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Millie Jackson as influences, Jo's gospel soulfulness has been likened to Anita Baker, her pop sensibilities to Annie Lennox, and her mainstream singer/songwriter appeal to that of Sarah McLachlan. Benchmarks she clears with aplomb.

Artists such as Rag 'N' Bone Man have in the past taken to social media to proclaim Jo as "one of this country's finest talents" and legendary soul superstar Michael McDonald said "hearing her cover one of my songs was a spiritual experience."

Jo released her second studio album, People We Become, to much critical acclaim and no little commercial success. Indeed, the lead single, When We Were Young (featuring the aforementioned Mr McDonald), was on Radio 2's playlist, as well as on other mainstream national stations across Ireland and Europe. The album has also made various 'Best Of' lists internationally.

Last summer Jo duetted on Reach Out (I'll Be There) with Motown songwriting legend Lamont Dozier, which was the lead single from his Re-imagination album, which also features Gregory Porter, Graham Nash, Todd Rundgren, Rumer and other notable international names.

In a world where vocals are tuned to an inch of their life and producers ‘comp’ vocals from numerous takes, it’s refreshing to see a modern day performer like Jo doing it for real; sitting in the same room as the musicians - in much in the way artists such as Dusty and Aretha did ‘back in the day’.

After a three-year absence, Jo recently returned to the recording studio, where she cut an entirely unedited set, aptly entitled Signature Soul, reflecting the inimitable nature of her work as both a vocalist and as a songwriter. For this show, she appears in a stripped-back, all-laid-bare trio format.

Jo Harman (Vocals), Emily Francis (Piano/Keys), Nat Martin (Guitar).
