Nu Jazz with Wild Card + Special Guest Imaani

CANCELLED
Ticket holders will be contacted regarding refunds.

This gig is for a seated audience.

Formed in 2008 by French guitarist Clément Regert, Wild Card plays an exciting and innovative melting pot of musical ideas, fusing urban rhythms and grooves with funk, African and Latin.

The other core members of the band are drummer Sophie Alloway and Hammond/pianist Andrew Noble, backed by the cracking horn section of Chris Rand (Nine Below Zero) and Graeme Flowers (Kyle Eastwood), and featuring guest vocalist Imaani from Incognito!

Expect to hear their signature reworkings of classic rock songs with a jazzy twist and funky Latin feel, which Clément describes as a mix of Afro-Jazz, Hard Bop, Samba and raw funk.

"Anyone who thinks the jazz scene has been surrendered to the squeaky experimentalists, should sit back and let the adrenalin sizzle!", wrote The Art Desk during a four-star review of Wild Card, while Blues & Soul said: "The playing is exceptional. The material uber-strong . . .", and in another four-star review, Jazz Journal concluded: "It’s high octane, good-time music at its best."

So, whether your thing is swing, high energy, or whether you like driving rhythms or emotive, stylish lines, there's something in Wild Card's music for everyone.
