This gig is for a standing audience.

MICK HARVEY is renowned as a musician, record producer and composer and is perhaps best known as a member of The Birthday Party and The Bad Seeds and for his long term collaborative work with PJ Harvey and Nick Cave. In 2023 Harvey will be presenting material from his new album of duets with Mexican singer Amanda Acevedo at a series of concerts alongside Berlin’s ’Sometimes with Others’ and J.P. Shilo. Sometimes with Others are a musical collective performing a fine mixture of rock, drone, minimalism, jazz and blues - all blended on their debut “Nous” out on Hamburg based art vinyl label Grand Chess. Shilo is know for his work in The Hungry Ghosts and with Rowland S. Howard and will be presenting songs from his album ‘Invisible You’. Together as 'The Invisible Blue Unicorns' they will form a unified ensemble for a big showcase experience while delving into their individual catalogues.

SOMETIMES WITH OTHERS

Early 2018 saw the birth of Sometimes With Others, an unusual new kind of electric chamber quartet based in Berlin. The group was founded by singer & songwriter Mika Bajinski and cellist Marie Claire Schlameus. In January 2019 the ensemble was completed by adding double bass player / arranger Yoyo Röhm and lap steel guitarist Kristof Hahn. The group quickly evolved into its distinctive sound, a fine mixture of rock, noise, drone, soundtrack, minimalism, classical, jazz and blues in an organic way and led to the release of their debut album NOUS in November 2020 on Hamburg based art vinyl label GRAND CHESS. Due to the fluent nature of their sound most of NOUS was recorded live at the legendary Candy Bomber Studio in Berlin. The recordings feature Larry Mullins (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds / Iggy & The Stooges) on drums and percussion as well as a live string & horn section. The arrangements by Yoyo Röhm as well as the vivid recording and mixing of Ingo Krauss make this debut a timeless piece of art that instantly draws you into its spell. Their sound has drawn comparisons to Bohren & der Club of Gore, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Tindersticks. However their live sound is very ethereal and while shattering these comparisons makes each performance a very unique experience. The cover artwork was created in collaboration with the artist and musician James F. Johnston (Gallon Drunk / PJ Harvey) which is featured in the LP release in form of high-quality prints of the original works and completes the symbiosis between the visual and audio world. Due to the pandemic live appearances have been a rarity in 2021 but Sometimes With Others performance at Berlin’s Pop – Kultur Festival end of August 2021 created ardent reactions by fans and professional visitors alike.
