Colchester Heritage Tour with High Steward Sir Bob Russell - Town Hall Tour *

High Steward’s Town Hall tours

Guided tours of Colchester Town Hall are to be given by Colchester High Steward Sir Bob Russell, with the initial one arranged for this coming Saturday morning, 14th April.

His recent newspaper articles about the Town Hall led to several people asking him to organise tours, which he has now arranged in addition to his existing Heritage Tours of which there are three separate routes.

For his Heritage Tours, Sir Bob invites people to make a donation of £5 towards his fund-raising for a statue of the Taylor sisters, Jane and Ann Taylor. It was younger sister Jane who, in 1806 in Colchester, published a nursery rhyme which today is world-famous as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”.

He is also asking for donations of £5 for his Town Hall tours, which will be split equally between the Twinkle Star Fund and the Mayor’s charities.

Bookings for the Town Hall Tours must be made to Colchester Arts Centre by phone on 01206 500900, online here.

His fourth season of his Heritage Tours started earlier this month with Tour “A”. Tour “B” is on Sunday 15th April and the launch of his new Tour “X” on the 29th which is exclusively about Colchester’s rich Roman heritage.

Tickets £5, tour starts at 10am outside the town hall.
