Lost Theatres Of Colchester With Dorian Kelly

Since the earliest times, Colchester has been home to a large number of theatres and places of entertainment. Come and find the place where Charlie Chaplin appeared, with Vesta Tilley and another where Dickens and Oscar Wilde and Edmund Kean performed and Houdin complained about people cracking nuts all night. Find out where the second ever performance of Handel’s Messiah took place, where the most pitiable theatre in England was, and the largest Roller Skating rink in Britain used to be. Plus there'll be pop up surprises along the way!

Meet: The war memorial, 92 High Street.

Admission Free.
Starts 2pm, finishes 4pm.
