Third Angel is bringing Partus - a funny, moving semi-verbatim show all about birth - to Colchester Arts Centre, with an unusual offer: come to the theatre with your babe-in arms.
If the patter of tiny feet has curtailed your theatre-going because of curtain-up/bath-time clashes or the lack of babysitters, this is the answer.
Baby-friendly performances are shows for adults but with the sound and lighting a little softer, and the flexibility to move around to feed or comfort your baby as you need to without worrying that you’ll disturb other audience members. Devised from a series of real life interviews with mums, dads, midwives and obstetricians, it tells the stories of four women from different backgrounds all brought together on one night that would turn out to be a birthday they'd never forget.
Partus is a story of love, fear, joy, resilience and bravery. If you’ve had a baby, thought about it, are planning to or know anyone who has, this is the show for you. This is the sex education they never mentioned at school.
