Enjoy a presentation from the English historian and broadcaster. Michael has
presented numerous well-known television documentary series since the late 70s, and is the author of a number of books on English history, including In Search of the Dark Ages, The Domesday Quest, The Story of England, and In Search of Shakespeare.

For over thirty-five years now, historian, filmmaker and broadcaster Michael Wood has brought history alive for TV viewers. He is the author of several best-selling books including four UK Number One bestsellers, and well over one hundred highly praised documentary films, among them In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great and The Story of India. His Story of England which told the tale of one village, Kibworth in Leicestershire, through British history, was called by the Independent ‘the most innovative history series ever on TV’. Of his Story of China (BBC 2 2016) the state news agency in China, Xinhua said it had ‘transcended the barriers of ethnicity and belief and brought something inexplicably powerful and touching to the TV audience”.

Among his many awards, Michael recently received the British Academy President’s Medal for services to History and outreach. His family have lived in and around Colchester for many years.
