Shaw's Early Xmas Caper

"A masterly vocalist . . . one of the finest singers in contemporary music," said All About Jazz of Ian Shaw, while The Guardian declared him to be "a profoundly sophisticated artist with a broad grasp of music's mechanics, as well as an affecting, emotional and sometimes very funny singer."

In this inimitable one-man powerhouse show, award-winning jazz singer and entertainer Ian explores the joys, tears and sheer horror of the festive season. This mischievous artist promises a cracker of a show, after another right old figgy pud of a year, so expect seasonal songs and razor-sharp comedy.

One of the most distinctive, original and creative jazz singers that the UK has ever produced, Ian won the Best Jazz Vocalist category twice at the prestigious BBC Jazz Awards. A staple on the UK jazz scene for over three decades, he tours constantly here and internationally.

Whether solo at the piano, with his trio or as the special guest with orchestras, Ian remains the consummate entertainer whose recordings and live performances have been recognised by numerous awards. He’s also a talented pianist, songwriter, actor, presenter and record producer.

Over the years Ian has collaborated with the likes of Quincy Jones, Van Morrison, Georgie Fame, Claire Martin, Cleo Laine, Kenny Wheeler, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Nigel Kennedy, Kurt Elling, Pete Townsend and Jeff Beck, and has toured with Abdullah Ibrahim, The Boston Pops and Cedar Walton.

Truly, a class act.

"You don’t have to bend an ear very far to detect character and class." - The  Guardian

"Shaw's ability to sear away the extraneous, cut to the emotional heart of a song and build inexorably without melodrama or self-aggrandisement toward the moment a lyric gives itself up to us, remains astonishing." - Jazzwise

"The Welsh vocalist remains the gentlest of troubadours and most nakedly magical of storytellers . . ." - Jazz Times
