Jazz, Funk, Soul with BASSISTRY

The brainchild of composerbass player Marcel Pusey, this dynamic, vocal-led group mix a heady cocktail of jazz, soul and funk with pulsating electronic grooves and contemporary string soundscapes. Despite an eclectic mix of influences - including Jamiroquai, Amy Winehouse, Massive Attack, the Brand New Heavies and Incognito - Bassistry still retain their own individual sound.

Following their self-titled, self-produced, 1996 jazz funk-inspired debut album, in 2005 Marcel formed a new Bassistry line-up, inspired by weekly jam sessions in South London’s renowned music venue, The Bedford. The end result was ‘In Time’, a vocal-led jazz
soul album, inspired by the likes of the Brand New Heavies, though with a grittier edge. Tracks have subsequently featured in countless TV programmes worldwide.

The third album, ‘WTHDCT’, features the crème de la crème of London musicians, such as Sonia Slany on strings (Skyfall, Peter Gabriel, Mark Knopfler, Jools Holland), Imaani (Incognito), jazz trumpet virtuoso Jay Phelps, and long-time vocalists Katy Seath and Nicola Bull.

Bassistry’s musicians have toured, played, produced and recorded with artists as diverse as Paloma Faith, Corinne Bailey-Rae, Professor Green, Plan B, Incognito, Tom Jones and Grace Jones. They've also performed at the Glastonbury, Womad, V and Ealing Jazz Festivals, and venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Jazz Café and Dingwalls.

Expect an unmissable musical experience, with a mix of styles and danceable grooves!

Marcel Pusey (Bass Guitar), Nicola Bull (Vocals), Katy Seath (Vocals), Dimitris Dimopolous (Keyboards), Sam Agard Blue (Drums), Robert Logan (Electronics and Keys).
