Solstice & Trilogy Double Bill*
22nd July 2023
An Evening Of Extraordinary Music In Colchester
For fans of progressive rock, the genre is as relevant now as it has ever been - perhaps more so, in an age of instantly forgettable and easily-digested sonic fluff, the integrity and passion of the art form is more important than ever. What a rare treat then to be able to enjoy classic progressive rock music, performed live by wonderful musicians, in a venue near you!
Solstice and Trilogy were stars of the New Wave Of British Progressive Rock, a movement which had its genesis at London’s Marquee Club in the early eighties, re-energising the musicianship, ambition, scope and invention of classic seventies prog with a drive that persists to this day. Now, for the first time in four decades, they are appearing together on the same bill, at Colchester Arts Centre.
Solstice are enjoying a well-earned renaissance with dynamic vocalist Jess Holland bringing a fresh energy to an expanded eight-piece band, led by original guitarist Andy Glass. Following the commercial success of their 2020 comeback album Sia, their distinctive blend of progressive rock and folk has been delighting audiences across the UK and Europe.
Solstice tick every prog box by remaining a band you’ll never find in the mainstream yet whose music continues to enthral and enchant audiences everywhere.

Trilogy’s sound combines a generous helping of heavy rock influences with the quirky time signatures and virtuoso musicianship that remain the cornerstones of true prog. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Paul Dennis moves effortlessly between guitar, keyboards and bass pedals to create a dense and multi-layered backing for their songs, supported by intricately-woven bass and drums. Only three men on stage but Trilogy punch way above their weight!
2023 marks Trilogy’s 40th anniversary as a band and after a long hiatus are celebrating this milestone with a series of gigs and a trio of CD releases, driven entirely by popular demand - the amazing fan response to the creation of their Facebook page and YouTube channel led to a band reunion, with followers both old and new eager to see the band onstage again.
