Silver Moth + Samana
7th November 2023
This gig is for a standing audience.
New critically acclaimed project featuring Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai.
A leap of faith reaps extraordinary rewards on Black Bay, the debut album of depth, atmosphere
and daring from the collective known as Silver Moth. Black Bay is the sound of storied
musicians yielding to shared goals, a policy of trust in action. Between hushed incantations and
molten guitars, 15

minute noise
-
rock epics and healing psalms, their music is a testament to
connectivity and receptivity: to a union of disparate minds committing to something greater than
the sum of its parts.
Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, Elisabeth Elektra, members of Abrasive Trees, Burning House,
Prosthetic Head, Evi Vine and Steven Hill convened to improvise the album in early 2021. A
couple of meetings would subsequently lead to them visiting the dramatic location of Great
Bernera’s Black Bay Studios on the Isle of Lewis, where they tracked the songs in just four
days: a testament to the musicians’ focused openness to their shared mission and environment.
“In just a few days the collective spirited up this fabulously elemental

Samana
Samana is a multidisciplinary project made up of award winning photographer and poet Rebecca Rose Harris and producer and multi-instrumentalist Franklin Mockett. Samana was realised in the heart of a mountainous forest, during a year long journey the pair undertook accross the natural wilderness and distant cities of eastern Europe, lending their instincts solely to the road and to the embodiment of freedom. Samana is a journey of internal and external exploration; their music is forged with an almost shamanic weight and significance, born from the interpretation of dreams, the study of ancient rituals, philosophies of love, loss and death. Samana create all their art themselves in their analogue recording studio and darkroom suite ‘the road records’ deep in the rural valleys of Wales.

“I can’t recommend anything more highly! This is something incredibly special! It is the sound of art meeting love in a very real way. Samana are one of my favourite bands and Rebecca is my favourite singer at the moment!" - Guy Garvey, BBC 6 Music
