For the first time in 35 years of presenting unique one-of-a-kind stage shows, Negativland performs radically new audio-visual versions of many Negativland favorites that have never before been heard live.
Negativland's new thought provoking performance project finds them teaming up with with San Francisco electronic musician Wobbly and "live cinema" video artist Steev Hise for a unique performance that sonically and visually reinvents many of their favorite past and present dialog cut-ups, while showcasing Negativland's homemade electronic noise-making devices that they call "Boopers."
Boopers are intentionally unstable homemade analog feedback boxes, first created in 1975 by David Wills, a founding member of Negativland. By taking a simple clock radio amplifier and sending its output back into its input to create feedback, and then adding multiple transistors, capacitors, and resistors, along with various knobs and switches, to unpredictably control and modulate the signal, the sound that emerges is wildly variable, This creates a dynamic where the Negativland member playing the Booper becomes a fellow collaborator with the device.
Using as many as seven Boopers on stage at once (all based on Wills's original design), Negativland further structures, manipulates, and augments these sounds with found voices, cut-up spoken word, ungainly pulsing rhythms, and live collaged visuals.

The Rock Garden of Chandigarh make music for moving images, whether on screen or in your own head. They create concepts and narratives for simultaneously eerie, euphoric and disturbing live sets blending electronic and acoustic sounds. The line up evolves but is currently comprised of: Emma Reed (Lost Harbours, Pettaluck), Hypnotique (Dawn of the Replicants, Babyslave), and Lee Ashcroft (The Nearly, Mixomatosis). Their live shows feature duelling clarinets and virtuosic theremin on a hotbed of cool electronica.
Following a live commission in 2018, they are working on their debut album, a series of pieces inspired by the 1973 French-Czech animated sci-fi film La Planète Sauvage (René Laloux). Their live shows develop the music from this soundtrack to be playful, macabre and melancholic - in equal measure.
