Lia Mice + Meemo Comma + A'Bear + Xylitol

28th July 2023

2022 Oram Award winner and multidisciplinary artist Lia Mice’s live AV sets incorporate beat-driven experimental pop, live vocal sampling, and Lia’s self made visuals that mash digital and analogue video synthesis. Crowned a “pioneer of experimental pop" by Berlin's KALTBLUT Magazine, Mice's has performed her live sets at such venues as the ICA, the Tate Modern, WOMB (Tokyo) and the Museum of Arts and Design (New York). Her album Sweat Like Caramel is out on Objects Ltd.

Meemo Comma is the alias of Brighton born Lara Rix-Martin who previously recorded as part of the Heterotic duo on Planet Mu. They started the Objects Limited label that features under represented genders in 2016 and has since gone on to produce three albums of their own, including the 2021 anime soundtrack and Jewish folklore inspired "Neon Genesis: Soul into Matter.

A'Bear is a multi continental psychedelic electronic producer and DJ making cosmically inspired sounds composed of hypnotising trance like melodic layers of loops woven through intricate beats. South African born, Australian raised, and London grown- Janine A’Bear’s music production and live performances encourage inclusivity and induce dream-like states of consciousness on the dance floor for all to enjoy. Described by Resident Advisor as ‘wonderfully unhinged’, A’Bear combines psychedelic polyrhythms with distorted bass lines and warped vocals. Trained in gong meditation and yoga teaching A'Bear explores her mindful deep connection with the chaos of sound leaving her unique imprint across diverse activities including: her regular radio show EastBlenders on Threads Radio with Lia Mice, guest spots on Netil Radio, NTS and Red Light radio, Amsterdam.

Xylitol is the musical outlet for Brighton-based DJ, writer and electronic music producer Catherine Backhouse. Drawing equally on kosmische music, jungle techno, garage and electro; "glamour, economy and plasticity” best characterize her approach and aesthetic: the amphetamine modernism of Ravesignal III, the tripped-out reveries of Cluster and Harmonia, the deep space breakbeat propulsion of DJ Crystl repurposed for the era of slow motion apocalypse.
