F.O.X + Up + The Simon Aldridge Experience

16th February 2019

F.O.X are a female fronted synth pop act from Essex, UK.

Having released 2 albums – their debut ‘Chimera’ and follow up ‘Hypoxia’ the band have gained National and International praise along the way for their eye-popping, high energy live shows, major versus minor songwriting and use of electronics.

“It’s a synth-tastic slice of pop – rather like The Gossip might sound if all guitars were suddenly outlawed” – BBC Radio 1

"It feels like you’ve been invited to the great disco on the Sun, and you shall dance on the stars until the grand supernova ends us all." - 1Q Music

The band are constantly touring the UK and abroad, their ethereal blend of electronics and dark pop gaining them multiple showcases at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas with Gibson making them their band of the festival. Vice, Spin and The Independent praised the band as ones to watch and a tour of 32 states followed with The Deer Tracks from Sweden.

F.O.X have twice been invited to support Depeche Mode on their European stadium tours - both on Delta Machine in 2013 and Global Spirit in 2017. This resulted in the band playing to over 300,000 people across 8 dates. Other supports include Dua Lipa, Florence And The Machine and Tom O’Dell.

Their most recent single ‘Half Way To Nowhere’ gained International support including MTV, VIVA and the BBC. It was included in Huw Stephens’ ‘Ones To Watch’ for 2017 broadcast on BBC World Service.

Winning Best UK Live act, they will go down in history as the first live band to play at The Houses Of Parliament. And probably the last…

Their 3rd album is due for release in 2019

"Sweeping, massive electro-pop" - Supajam
"Tasty!" - Jim Gellatly XFM
"Their debut album Chimera is a fantasy come true, a great pop band with great pop tracks. 9/10" - Liverpool Sound And Vision
"The world needs a band like this" - Ceasar Live N Loud

Childhood friends from Essex, Martin and Rob’s lives ran separately, until circumstances threw them together creatively, forming UP.

A love of Japanese pop culture, 90s nostalgia and electronic music forms the basis of their sound. Featuring elements of dance music, indie vocal stylings and vibrant production, UP’s music drifts between upbeat pop and broad cinematic soundscapes. Their sound has been likened to acts such as M83 & Justice.

As a Music Tech graduate, Martin's career has included working for Metropolis studios in London and sound design for companies such as Google and Red Bull. Rob, a lifelong folk-Indie guitarist and singer, performs with a distinct vocal style.

Their music has gained the interest of BBC Introducing, who have played more than 10 of their tracks and invited them to perform live in the BBC Suffolk studios. They have just finished a brand new live set and are looking forward to showcasing it in December at the Smokehouse in Ipswich and again in February at the London Anime and Gaming convention, with many more gigs to follow for 2019.

"Myself, Simon and Terry all met up at the local open mic scenes in Colchester. We decided to go out on the streets of Colchester to perform to the local public, not as a band but as friends who enjoy bringing music to the public. We have a mixed array of cover material in which has a kind of country, pop and folk genre feel to it. We have build up a good reputation on the streets of Colchester in which the public, local council and street managers book us for certain gig venues. On the streets we are known as Simon, Terry and Dave, but when playing a booked venue, we are known as The Simon Aldridge Experience."
