Eddie & The Hot Rods + The Rezidents

Eddie & The Hot Rods + The Rezidents

10th February 2024

This gig is for a standing audience.

Eddie & The Hot Rods were formed by teenagers Steve Nicol and Barrie Masters in 1975 in a sleepy town just outside Southend-On-Sea called Rochford. After a time playing the London Pub Rock circuit where they often had a certain Joe Strummer and his band the 101ers as support band.

They were scouted by Island Records and signed to the label in 1976. They are credited as being the first UK band to be labelled Punk by the music press and in the long hot summer of 1976 they went head to head with ACDC to see who could sell out the most consecutive nights at Londons Marquee Club.

Eddie and The Hot Rods are:
Simon Bowley - Drums
Ian Dipster Dean - Vocals
Richard Holgarth - Guitars
Mic Stoner - Bass
