Mairearad Green & Anna Massie *

10th April 2017

Multi-instrumentalists and award winners, Mairearad Green (accordion and bagpipes) and Anna Massie (guitar, banjo, fiddle) are an instantly captivating duo, providing a highly energetic performance with a warm and friendly stage presence.

Having both grown up in the Scottish Highlands with similar musical backgrounds (most notably, mandolin playing Dads!) Mairearad and Anna share an innate understanding of Scottish culture and music.

They have an intuitive approach to each other’s musical ideas and interpretations, and an "almost telepathic communication" on stage honed through ten years playing alongside one another.

SUPPORT: Nunn and Dunn
Both born on the same date, Ed Nunn and Greg Dunn could have been twins, divided by only 37 years. They were put together as a duo to perform at the Art Centre's Acoustic Lounge, and their first performance was described positively as 'raw'. They were interviewed afterwards by Chris Burrage, for his Gig Report series, viewable here on youtube, with Ed and Greg's bit starting at 12 minutes, 30 seconds. This gives a flavour of their musical chemistry and shows the polish of twenty minutes' rehearsal time! They accompany themselves with accordion, guitar and drum pedal.
