6th March 2012

Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention is celebrating its forty-fifth anniversary as one of the most entertaining bands on the live music scene.

This year's Winter Tour will feature songs from Fairport's most recent studio album, the critically acclaimed Festival Bell. But the band has a vast repertoire to draw on and this concert will include favourites chosen by audiences as well as the new material. There will also be an opening set from gifted singer-songwriter Kieron Goss.

Fairport Convention features Simon Nicol on guitar and lead vocals, Dave Pegg on bass and backing vocals, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and lead vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on drums and percussion.

The band has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport’s groundbreaking album Liege & Lief 'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time'.

Whether you are a long-time fan or a newcomer to their music an evening with Fairport Convention will surprise and delight you.
